Top 5 Drama Movies Based on Novels

I don't think that anyone will disagree with me if I say that one of the best movies are based on books or true stories. After all, most of those movies are on the top list of IMDB. That is why I decided to make my own list of personal favourite drama movies based on novels. It was really hard for me to decide which one is the best, but ,however, I think you would enjoy every single one of them.
5. A Beautiful Mind (2001) - 135 min - Biography | Drama

This movie reveals that our mind is the most powerful force in the universe and it is incredibly beautiful thing. But what if this force comes back right at us? It is based on the life of John Nash, a Nobel prize winner. He arrives at the Princeton University as a new graduate student, searching for an "original idea". The movie is told in a flashback format, which reveals the memories of  Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks), who was working in the Cold Mountain Penitentiary during the Great Depression in the United States.
Paul is a headmaster in the correctional facility called "Green Mile" and he is responsible of executing the inmates charged with death. He is a person who doesn't believe in miracles, until he met one himself. One day, John Coffey, a giant black man, found guilty for the rape and death of two young girls, came to the "Green Mile". 2. Schindler's List (1993) - 195 min - Biography | Drama | History
There is no doubt that this is one of the best films created by Steven Spielberg. This incredible story takes place in Poland in a small town called Krakow. The entrepreneur Oscar Schindler comes to this town right after the beginning of the World War II and decides to start a factory business making mess kit. He uses Jews to start up his factory and during the years of fiendish torches towards the Jews he has saved 1,100 from certain death. This movie is based on a true story and on the Thomas Keneally's novel Schindler's Ark and it is a film that I recommend to everyone who hasn't watched it.

Adapted from the Stephen King's novella "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption", the film tells the story of Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a banker who spends nearly two decades in Shawshank State Prison for the murder of his wife and her lover despite his claims of innocence. The story is told through the eyes of Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman), a man with whom Andy forms a close friendship. After a few years Andy finds himself protected by the guards after the warden begins using him for his knowledge in accounting in his money laundry.
